How We Handle Your Data
Last updated November 5, 2026
A plain-language answer to the question clients actually ask: what happens to my material once you have it.
1. The short version
We collect the minimum we need to reply to you and do the work. We do not sell your data. We do not use your client material to train public AI models. You can ask us to delete what we hold about you, and we will.
2. What we collect and why
Site and tool use: your Margin Calculator™ answers and notes (kept in your browser unless you submit them), plus basic visit data such as pages viewed and device type.
Contact and newsletter: your name, email, and anything you tell us when you book a call or subscribe.
Client work: the documents, notes, and files needed for the engagement, held only for that engagement.
3. What we never do
We do not sell or rent your personal information or client material.
We do not submit client material to AI services that use it to train public or shared models.
We do not add you to marketing lists you did not ask to join.
We do not keep client material after an engagement ends unless you ask us to, or the law requires it.
4. Confidentiality on client projects
Each client gets a separate workspace with written rules about what may and may not be used. Sensitive material — personnel matters, health or financial records, anything a client marks confidential, and anything subject to attorney-client privilege — stays out of AI tools entirely unless you tell us otherwise in writing.
Access is limited to the people working on your engagement, and we use access controls and encrypted connections rather than shared accounts.
5. Vendors and subprocessors
We use a small number of service providers to run our business: hosting, email delivery, scheduling, payments, and analytics. Each is contractually limited to our instructions and may not use your data for its own purposes. On a client engagement, we name the specific tools we will use before work starts, and you can veto any of them.
6. Retention
Enquiry and newsletter records: until you ask us to remove them. Client project material: for the engagement, then deleted or returned at the end unless you ask us to keep it. Financial records: as long as tax and accounting rules require. Technical logs: a short period, usually in aggregate.
7. If something goes wrong
If we become aware of a breach that exposes personal information or client material, we will investigate, tell the affected clients and individuals without unnecessary delay, and take steps to contain and prevent a repeat.
8. Your controls
You can ask us at any time for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or deletion. Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email to stop the newsletter immediately. For a client engagement, your engagement agreement sets the return-and-delete terms at the end of the project.
If you run your own AI tools, you stay responsible for what you put into them; we will help you set the same kind of rules for your practice.
9. How this page relates to the Privacy Policy
This page is the plain-language summary. The Privacy Policy is the full legal statement, and it controls where the two differ. Terms of Use covers your use of the site itself.
